While drivers like Max Verstappen are the poster boys for successful dynasties like the current one with Red Bull, a lot of work goes on behind the scenes to ensure glory. The Bulls have always been one step ahead of their relative competition in the strategy department. So, when Verstappen is banging in stonking lap times, there’s one person who sits on the pit wall to mastermind it all.

The Austrian GP was another milestone for the Milton-Keynes-based outfit and the Dutch lion. But behind the façade of records, it was just another day at the office for Verstappen. That being said, while the 2x champion is arguably one of the best drivers this sport has seen, the brain behind the whole operation deserves some credit.

Hannah Schmitz is the Principal Strategy Engineer at Red Bull. Basically, she calls all the strategy shots for both, Verstappen and his teammate, Sergio Perez. And after a perfect race weekend with Verstappen topping all sessions, the orange army gave Schmitz her due.

After the race, Schmitz took to her Instagram account to post pictures from the podium ceremony and wrote, “Congratulations on an incredible 1-3 today and 1-2 yesterday @redbullracing! What a busy weekend but amazing result and such a beautiful place @redbullring. Homeward bound.”
