Mick Schumacher is still searching to score his first points in the sport. While last season he did not have the car to deliver points, it is a different story in 2022. His new teammate Kevin Magnussen has overshadowed him as he showed the true potential of the 2022 Haas to everyone.

Former F1 driver Christian Danner revealed that Schumacher is not in the same league as his fellow young drivers Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, and Max Verstappen. Danner mentioned that time flies quickly at the pinnacle of motorsport and it may be flying too quickly for the young German.

“The problem is that once you’re in Formula 1, the apprenticeship is actually over very quickly. Even Lando Norris screwed up once, but he came and was unbelievably good straight away.”

“Charles Leclerc has messed up a number of times too, but when he drove for Sauber, he made a show of it. Max Verstappen, yes, he sometimes had accidents. But the bar that this generation of new racing drivers is setting is very high and Mick will have to measure up to that,” said Danner about Mick.

He also pointed out the importance for Mick to get the better of his experienced teammate Kevin Magnussen this season.

Schumacher did comprehensively outperform his former teammate Nikita Mazepin in 2021. But Magnussen is no rookie and has the experience in the sport that Schumacher lacks.

“What good is it if you are 13, 14, 15, or 25 times faster than Mazepin? nothing. But if you beat Magnussen, it means something!” said the former F1 driver.

It does feel like the time is moving rapidly for the young German driver in F1. He needs to score his first points in the sport to calm the surrounding pressure from all quarters.

But he needs to score the impending points sooner rather than later as the pressure regarding his place in F1 will slowly come into question. Mick is showing signs of improvement but needs a cleaner weekend without any problems. Let’s see if he can continue to improve and eventually score points for Haas in the coming races this season.
