Nikita Mazepin is one of the three Formula 1 debutants this season. The Russian along with Yuki Tsunoda and Mick Schumacher will have their own battle for the ‘Rookie of the season’. Franz Tost, the AlphaTauri team principal, gives his view on how their F1 career may pan out.
Nikita Mazepin failed to make Tost’s list of future F1 talents. In his view, Tsunoda, Schumacher, and Schwartzman will be the future of F1.

In the end, it always depends on it how much brain a driver has and then switches on in the cockpit.
“In my long time in motorsport, I have found that in the end only those drivers who are intelligent and know why they are doing something will prevail – and those who do too behave accordingly,” Tost explained.
Since his junior racing seasons, the Russian has been in the news for the wrong reasons. The report points out the time where he angrily crashed into the placement sign in the parc ferme’ post a last-minute penalty. The sign barely missed Tsunoda’s face as it flew past the Japanese racer’s ears.
Mazepin’s recent controversy had the F1 community asking for his removal from the series before his debut this season. There was outrage after the Russian uploaded an abhorrent video that led to outrage on social media.
Haas F1 boss Guenther Steiner had expressed earlier that he is ready to give his rookie driers room for mistakes. Mazepin had a few good races in his last F2 season, however, it will be interesting to see his performance curve, or lack of it, in Formula 1.
