The British Grand Prix has served up a couple of disappointing results for Max Verstappen. The Dutchman had to surrender his lead in the race to the chief rival Ferrari. Despite a DNF scare, Verstappen finished the race at P7. However, this result was a positive one compared to the disappointing 2021 edition of the British GP.

David Coulthard took Verstappen back in time to the 2021 race to talk about the feelings surrounding the race weekend. The feeling was ‘not nice’ as Verstappen revealed to an F1 driver turned journalist. Verstappen collided with Hamilton, the eventual race winner, and experienced a force of 51Gs .
The Red Bull man would’ve done things differently, by not celebrating the way Mercedes did, if the roles had been reversed. Describing the 2021 race, he added, “A lot of points lost, a lot of damage as well to the car, I lost an engine so that eventually also gave me an engine penalty. So there were a lot of consequences with that crash.”

He added, “It’s not really personally. I just didn’t like the way the team mainly was celebrating it and the things they were saying. You could talk about it forever. I think at the time it was not nice.”

However, the crash fueled the rest of the season for the Red Bull man as he revealed they were motivated for the rest of the season. The Dutchman won his maiden world championship, which was a lifelong dream for him.
Max Verstappen gives his thoughts on winning the championship for the second time
Approximately six months after winning the championship, Verstappen is leading it again. And Coulthard brought up Verstappen’s statement on not winning again will be fine at the Abu Dhabi GP.

However, clarifying himself, Verstappen said, “I think it will be less emotional if it would happen.”
He added, “Because that’s the first time you taste something like that which is such a difficult thing to achieve in Formula 1.”

Even though Verstappen has achieved his goal, it would be silly to think he will not be chasing it again every single season.
