Getting into Formula 1 is one thing, but staying in the sport requires a dog-eat-dog mentality. Everyone on the grid is a rival, especially one’s teammate. However, ever so often we come across examples of wholesome moments in the sport. At the Dutch GP, George Russell and Daniel Ricciardo are responsible for the latest incident.

Most drivers arrive for Thursday briefings in the attire of their choice. Russell’s choice for the Dutch GP is a shout-out to the unlikeliest friendships on the grid. The Mercedes man rocked the latest RIC3 merchandise as he made his way to the paddock. In case you don’t know, RIC3 is the name of Daniel Ricciardo’s clothing brand.

However, the “enchanté” merch that Russell rocked wasn’t for him as revealed by the Honey Badger. “He won’t mind me saying this,” began narrating Ricciardo.

“He texted me one Friday night, and it was a picture of his girlfriend on the couch, looking up the Ric 3 shop. He’s like, ‘mate, what’s going on?’ And I was like, ‘tell me what she likes, and I’ll send her a few things’.”

“So we sent a few, and I guess one of one of them actually fits George!”

He adds, “So he decided to wear it today. So it’s good. He is a good lad.”

However, this isn’t the first time the Mercedes man has worn Daniel Ricciardo merch. In Turkey, back in 2020, Russell wore Ricciardo’s cap and even called himself, “Proud @danielricciardo ambassador.”

Ricciardo’s comments about the whole incident and Russell sporting the sweater don’t even begin to cover the bromance.

The Mercedes man might’ve ‘borrowed’ the sweater from his girlfriend, but it fits like it is meant for him. Russell even posted a photo of himself on Instagram in Ricciardo’s merch. The McLaren man wasted no time as he commented, “Russell George you’re so hot right now,” on Russell’s post.

Not just a comment, the Honey Badger dedicated a couple of stories to the Brit in his merchandise.

The bromance obviously caught the attention of the Twitter faithful as the love for their friendship poured in.

Fans pointed out the number of occasions Russell has been Ricciardo’s No.1 fan and appreciated a rare friendship in the paddocks.
