Interestingly, the 35-year old has been second-guessing himself and his motivation to carry on racing. 2020 would have been Hamilton’s 14th consecutive year in the top tier of Grand Prix racing. Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic has scuppered his chances of a seventh world title, equalling Michael Schumacher.

Like his colleagues, Lewis Hamilton is patiently waiting for F1’s green light to finally hop into his W11. However, the extended lockdown has lead to some introspection and the Mercedes star has even questioned his own motivation.

“I have days when I wake up and feel groggy, I don’t feel motivated to work out,” he explained on Mercedes‘ YouTube chat.

“I feel, ‘Jeez, where are we going? What’s next? Should I continue racing?’ I think all these different things, and then I’m like ‘Damn it!’, and the next hour, or whatever, it passes, and I’m like ‘Damn! I love what I do! Why would I ever consider not continuing?’”
