The title fight between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen is getting intense with every race of the season. The gap between the two title contenders is just eight points. The Red Bull driver has 351.5 points, while Britain’s Knight has 343.5.

But, many have wondered if both have equal points at the end of the season, who will be crowned the world champion? Will it be Verstappen? Or the Mercedes driver?

Who will win the title if Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have equal points?

The title rivals have been pushing each other to the limit so far this season, both have led the driver’s championship, but with just two more races to go, who will come out on top?

If both were to have equal points at the end of the season, many wonder, who will be given the title? According to the FIA regulations, if the points are equal at the end of the season, the driver with the most wins will be crowned champion.

So technically, if both Verstappen and Hamilton do have the same points after the final race in Abu Dhabi; It would be the Dutch driver who will take home his first title as he nine wins to his name so far this season.

Max is well aware that the next two races are the most important

At the recent Qatar Grand Prix, Hamilton defeated Verstappen to take the chequered flag. This result saw the gap between them fall from fourteen to just eight points. With the final two races coming up, which could potentially decide the title fight, the Red Bull prodigy is well aware of the challenges that lies ahead.

He said, “We just need to try and stay focused and there are two races to go and as you can see a lot of things can happen. Anything is possible. I feel good. It’s going to be a tight battle to the end. I know it’s going to be difficult to the end, but I think that’s nice – it keeps it exciting.”
