Savage Horner Thanks Williams F1 Driver for Handing Verstappen the Title Against Hamilton in Abu Dhabi

Drama – the one word which sums up the title-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton was on the verge of taking home his eighth world title but a late crash caused by Nicholas Latifi brought out a safety car which heavily impacted the driver’s championship.

Twitter erupted into fans reacting on how Latifi changed the course of the championship. Many even considered the Williams driver to be the “Timo Glock” of Sunday’s race.

Horner said as quoted by Speedweek, “Many thanks to Nicholas Latifi for the safety car. The racing commissioners were tough on us at the beginning of the race, but they managed to start the race again. It was a crazy world championship, and Max not only won the title here, he showed extraordinary achievements all year round.”

The Dutch driver wins his first F1 title in a dramatic manner

Max Verstappen was staring the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at pole position, giving the Red Bull prodigy hope. But Lewis Hamilton stole the lead from his arch-rival, and title contender Verstappen as soon as the lights went out at the Yas Marina.

However, it wasn’t over, as he was backed up by Red Bull driver Checo Perez in order to aid his Dutch teammate to get back his lead in the race. But, the Mercedes driver found the space he was looking and overtook the Mexican driver. This resulted in Max’s title chances diminishing

But Latifi’s crash caused  a safety  car which brought  insane drama towards the end of the race. It gave Max the opportunity to overtake the 7-time world champion and steal his championship on the last lap of the race.

As the Dutch driver crossed the line, there were tears of joy at the Red Bull garage, as they had ended Lewis’s dominace in the world of Formula One. Max too was overjoyed with emotions, as he became his country’s first Formula One world champion.
