Lewis Hamilton is a global sporting icon who is revered around by many other athletes. One athlete with whom the Mercedes driver has a special connection is American Football star Odell Beckham Jr.

Hamilton and Beckham Jr. have supported each other from across the Atlantic for a while. The LA Rams wide receiver even came to the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix to showcase his support for his friend.

In his YouTube video, we can clearly see Odell’s excitement for the race as it was his first time in Monaco. Hamilton, while interacting with him before the race asked,” Did you see the car there? You know that happens with four tires on and four tires off in 2 seconds.”

” Quick. That’s what I was talking about, though. Go get it,” said Odell to Lewis. The Mercedes driver humbly replied,” I appreciate that message.”

Lewis won the race with the tiniest of win margins from Max Verstappen. The performance inspired Beckham Jr. a lot, and he spoke about Hamilton’s race to Sky Sports.

The Mercedes driver was on a 68 laps old medium tires and successfully held off the young Dutch driver over the course of the race. This detail did not go unnoticed by Beckham Jr. who was inspired by his friend’s performance.

“To see Lewis pull it off, under pressure, in the championship – I was telling a brother of mine this has really motivated me, the whole experience. This was something that motivated me. This was the Monaco Grand Prix. As I had a conversation with him, I understood how much this one meant to him,” said the NFL star.
