The legendary Italian team, Ferrari, currently has one of the best driver line-ups on the grid. Seeing their talent and fighter pilot mindset, a former Formula 1 driver believes that fans would get to witness tough competition between Charles Leclerc & Carlos Sainz in 2022. The Maranello-based team was impressive in both the pre-season tests at Barcelona and Bahrain. Undoubtedly, Ferrari has a spectacular car this year, and can now challenge other teams for the top spot. Not to forget, the Italian giants have 2 of the most promising drivers with them.

It is the F1 pundit and former racing driver, Martin Brundle, who believes that there will be a neck-to-neck competition between both the Ferrari drivers. While speaking to Sky F1, Brundle said, “If that Ferrari is a race-winning proposition then it will be fascinating controlling Leclerc and young Carlito (Sainz) because they are pretty even Stevens.”

The F1 expert further stated, ” We saw them last year – quite feisty together, they are respectful, they know who their employer is and their paymaster, but if there’s a sniff of race victories or the championship, that will get very competitive between the drivers.”

Ferrari are the favorites to win the Bahrain GP

The Italian F1 team showcased phenomenal performance in the pre-season testings. Already there is a lot of speculation that Ferrari might rise to their former glory this year. Even the seven-time world champion favors the legendary Italian F1 team to dominate in the upcoming season opener at the Bahrain International Circuit.

“I really don’t know. I think Ferrari, from what I can see, today Ferrari would probably be getting a 1-2 or maybe Red Bull,” said Lewis Hamilton.

The Ferrari’s performance not only impressed the German constructor but also Red Bull. The Austrian team boss, Christian Horner, also believes that the Italians are currently the fastest. “For me the car that looks the most settled on the circuit at the moment is Ferrari,” said Horner.

The Red Bull Boss further stated, “I think they’ve had a very strong testing period so far, both in Barcelona and in Bahrain. So I would say they’ve looked extremely competitive whenever they’ve been on track.”
