.Back in 2020, Ferrari endured one of their worst nightmares in Formula One, with a late mandatory change in engine design entirely affecting their on-track performance. A string of awful performances came from both sides of the garage, Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel, as the hunger for victory grew bigger.
Hence, there began Ferrari’s journey of resurrection! The Reds sacrificed the whole of the 2021 season hoping to reclaim the top step from Mercedes and Red Bull by 2022.
Ferrari even managed to design a new engine in a rather short period of time which they coincidentally used to defeat McLaren to P3 in the 2021 constructors’ championship. This further spurred up the hopes surrounding Ferrari’s active pursuit of the F1 title.

Did Ferrari outsmart Mercedes with the side pod design?
Every single team, so far, has managed to come up with their own innovative side pod designs which have even impressed many in the FIA. Nobody was expecting such vast variations. Hence, now the question is, who managed to bring about the best design?
Well, according to reports, it is Ferrari! Their side pod design has returned to being the best in business. The report is backed by a Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis of airflow in the F1-75. Turns out, the 2022 challenger of Ferrari will have a lesser drag than a lot of others and a consequent increase in downforce.

“The radical Ferrari sidepods are something we’ve all been interested in of late, this preliminary CFD analysis suggests there could be real merit to the concept,” Aerospace engineer and F1 enthusiast, Bryson Sullivan, wrote on Twitter crediting F1Technical.net.
“There’s definitely a huge shift in mean energy of the flow hitting the rear tyres. Instead of producing maximum drag in clean air, they are partially shadowed by the front tyre wake, reducing drag,” he added.
Overall, a hugely promising piece of news for Maranello and the whole of Tifosi. With such reports, Ferrari fans are eager to see the stations put an end to their dry F1 spell.
