“I Thought You Were Taller”: 5ft 8 Lewis Hamilton Was Left In Disbelief Looking Brawny Arnold Schwarzenegger In the Eye

Formula 1 is a sport that permeates all borders. Legends across all sports and industries have an affinity to the sport. Lewis Hamilton was lucky enough to meet such a name during the 2015 Australian Grand Prix.

Arnold Schwarzenegger made an appearance on the podium of the 2015 Australian Grand Prix held at Melbourne. Winner Lewis Hamilton had an exchange with ‘the Terminator’ on the rostrum where he tried to get one over on Schwarzenegger.

Hamilton started by applauding his team for the effort they had put in. However, things took a funnier turn when Hamilton said, “I thought you were taller! I thought he was taller on the Terminator”.

This drew a huge cheer from the crowd. Arnold, being the showman he is, wasn’t a spoilsport. He quipped back, “I’m not wearing my high heels.”

Hamilton is one of the biggest stars in the sports industry. However, even someone of his stature finds himself in awe of Schwarzenegger. The 7-time World Champion has admitted this himself, and said that he would want a closer relationship with him.

At the 2015 Australian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton got the opportunity to stand toe-to-toe with ‘the Terminator’. However, Hamilton was not to be the one to play things cool. He immediately acknowledged how big of a fan he was of the Austrian-American.

In interviews after the race, the Briton said, “I am not starstruck by many people but I was with him. I am a big fan.”

He then went on to relay how he would like to spend time and get to know the man well. “If he is around I will go out for a drink with him.”

Hamilton had also expressed his delight at meeting Schwarzenegger on the podium of the 2015 Australian Grand Prix. “It’s an incredible feeling to continue winning, but also great to be up here with you.”
