Former F1 driver David Coulthard has a theory about misfiring Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel. The ex Red Bull and McLaren driver has an idea on what exactly went wrong for Vettel this season.

Admittedly, the German driver has struggled this season and has even been beaten a few times by teammate Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque driver has surged ahead of the 4-time world champion by 19 points with one race remaining.

Vettel has been hanging on the ropes all season. This is a very difficult season for the German with this Charles Leclerc, who joined the team and immediately proved his speed,” Coulthard told Channel 4.

This is emphasized once more because the Monegasque put one pole after the other behind his name and Vettel passed in the championship.”

Further staining his repertoire is the fact that Sebastian Vettel has won just a single race in 2019. It got even worse as Vettel was involved in a collision with his teammate in Brazil, costing both of them a chance of a podium.

Due to the silly antics, both drivers have been summoned to the main headquarters in Maranello. So, both Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc will be forced to explain themselves to the higher ups at Ferrari.

Both drivers share some blame as Vettel clearly moved left, inching towards Charles to try and squeeze him. It was almost a carbon copy of the incident in Turkey 2010, when Vettel collided with his then teammate, Mark Webber

However Charles Leclerc was not completely innocent either in the Interlagos accident. According to another ex F1 driver, Karun Chandhok, he could have left a bit more space. Especially respecting the fact that they are team-mates, and colliding with your partner is a big no. However, he felt that this accident was something that was bound to happen.
