The announcement post on Instagram had received over 2 million likes in just three hours. However, the profile has something more interesting to speculate on. It has just one post, which is of the GTA 6 announcement itself. The developers archived over 4000 posts to ensure the trailer date gets all the attention. The developers joined the platform in June 2012 and since then, this is the first time they have implemented a strategy like this.

The anticipation surrounding GTA 6 is at a level that’s probably never been seen before. So, a clean slate on Instagram feels more like a symbolic statement by the makers to the whole world. With all the leaks and theories that have surfaced throughout the course of the GTA 6 ‘wait campaign’, the game has only looked more appealing.
For a lot of fans, removing thousands of posts for the sake of a trailer announcement is much more than just a marketing stunt. It represents the brand value of the upcoming game and how it could impact the landscape of gaming. Another thing to remember is that given the success of the previous game, GTA V, GTA 6 has a very high bar to live up to. But given how long fans have had to wait, and following the latest move, the expectations will only be much higher now.
