Goldberg Gives a Huge Update on his WWE Return

Goldberg is one of the wrestling legends the fans never forget. Although he made his debut in WCW, he has been equally successful in his WWE career. Despite being a Hall of Famer, he won the Universal Championship twice. However, Goldberg made zero TV appearances after losing his Universal Championship to Braun Strowman at Wrestlemania 33 this year.

With rumors of him joining rival company AEW, WWE fans were worried about never seeing the wrestler again. Fans need not worry because Goldberg recently revealed his future in WWE and AEW.

In a recent podcast with the Pop Culture Show, Goldberg revealed that he is under a special part-time contract with WWE. This contract allows him to appear in two matches per year. Although he has exhausted the match limit this year, Goldberg still has two years left.

I am contracted with WWE for the next two years through 2022, ’23. I’ve got two matches per year. I’ve exhausted my limit this year quite early on April the fifth with WrestleMania under these really weird circumstances.”

Goldberg is referring to the Coronavirus pandemic that changed everything this year. He was in his second reign as Universal Champion when Strowman defeated him at WrestleMania.

He explained how many of his projects are on hold due to the pandemic.

I’ve got a couple other extremely interesting projects right on the cusp, but as you guys know in the entertainment business right now everything’s on hold unless it’s a production of 10 or under pretty much. We got a lot of cool things that people are going to find out about pretty soon. My WWE commitment is still going strong.”

Talking about WWE commitment, Goldberg spoke about how fast things changed.

The amazing part is that I’ve been able to reinvent myself I think,” Goldberg admitted. “I haven’t been great at anything by any stretch of the imagination. But once I feel the need or the quality wanes I turn the corner and try to do something else.”

Goldberg exhausted his two-match contract this year when he fought “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in February and Braun Strowman in April.

It is uncertain whether Goldberg will return to WWE programming or not.However, the last two opponents of the former Universal Champion are ready to face each other at WWE SummerSlam.
