The LIV Golf CEO, Greg Norman, wasn’t always at the center of a controversy. The Australian had a successful golf career and an even more successful business career after. It is safe to say he led a life with many wild moments that stemmed from his success. Norman once even had a run-in with the police in Florida, where they chased him down on a highway.

Greg Norman won 20 times on the PGA Tour in his career, including two majors. Fate didn’t favor Norman a lot on the course; he often lost out on major championships by a narrow margin. But once, when Norman was being chased by the cops on a freeway, he somehow got “lucky.“
Norman’s friend demonstrates his F1 skills
Back in 2017, in a sit-down with Graham Bensinger, ‘the shark’ spoke of the time the police chased and caught him. Norman and his friend, Formula One world champion Nigel Mansell, had gone to collect a new Ferrari. The shark had just taken possession of the Ferrari Testarossa and was driving it back while Mansell drove his other car.
As soon as the two hit the highway, Norman said about Mansell, “He started showing off his Formula One skills.” Within seconds, the two were zooming past the other cars across the highway. The shark said, “All of a sudden, we’re going this ridiculous speed on 95.” The two were “going 120 miles per hour,” as per Bensinger.

Norman hadn’t noticed the police chasing them. “I didn’t want to make a mistake [while driving], so you’re oblivious to anything else going on,” he stated. Although it took time, the police eventually pulled over pulled over the golfer in his Ferrari.

Fate smiles upon Greg Norman
Soon after they were stopped, the police “had a little chat” with Norman. ‘The shark,’ after realizing he was getting a ticket, hilariously threw Mansell under the bus as well. He said, “Hey if you’re going to give me a ticket, you’ve got to go out there and give that guy a ticket too because I was racing him.”

But Norman was lucky; he had just picked up one of the rarest cars in the country at the time. “He had a look at the car and was very impressed with the car,” he said about the policeman. Fortunately, he didn’t give them a ticket. “We were very lucky,” said the LIV CEO.
