The English golfer Aaron Rai is currently competing in the $25 million race. Although his 2024 THE PLAYERS has not been as iconic as the 2023 edition since he is not even in the top-30. Last year, Rai scored a hole-in-one in the PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass, on the very famous 17th island green. The English golfer is popular for his iron covers, which he always carries in his bag alongside his victory tools.

Rai uses a full bag of TaylorMade equipment for competing on the greens. For driver, he carries TaylorMade M6 with 9 degrees at 9.5 and an Aldila NV Blue 70 S shaft that is perfect to reach the maximum limit of the ball speed. It also has features like corrective face angles for off-center hits and injecting speed.

The golfer also has TaylorMade SIM2 Max Fairway Wood, which comes with a 15-degree Mitsubishi Diamana BF 70 TX shaft. It is known for the distance game and is useful in hitting the ball with a singular force.

To save his game from the winds, Rai prefers TaylorMade P7TW irons from 4-iron down to 9-iron. The English golfer doesn’t go with a pitching wedge; rather, he chose four lob wedges from the Titleist Vokey SM8 model. His bag also contains TaylorMade Spider X putter with SuperStroke Tour 1.0P grip. For golf ball, he relies on Titleist Pro V1 ball.

Aaron Rai has played as a professional golfer many times across the globe, and the one thing that is always, always in his bag (along with his tools) is the iron covers. According to this golfer, the covers keep his irons safe; however, the major reason why he uses them is his father.

He shared with SiriusXM PGA Tour radio that as he started to play at the age of 4, despite having less money, his father never gave up on paying for everything he needed to play golf, and he did his best indeed. “I grew up in a very working-class family, and golf has always been a very expensive game,” Rai said.

Rai’s father used to clean his equipment, and as it cost them a fortune, he bought iron covers to keep his clubs at their best. Hence, this became a tradition, and the 29-year-old never turned away from it.

Fortunately, today Rai stands in the position where he doesn’t have to cover his irons and can replace them quickly if  any of it gets damaged, but this has changed nothing in this English golfer’s habits. He continues to keep his equipment safe, as always.
