Mike McGee, the life partner of the Swedish golfer Annika Sorenstam, has always been a proud husband. He supported her in every way possible since he became a part of her life. He stood by her when she wanted to quit golfing to start a family and when she made a comeback years after. The LPGA golfer is playing at the PNC Championship this week, and McGee is still by her side. But this time, all his support goes to another player on the field with whom he shares his last name.

The 72-time LPGA player has played at the unofficial Champions Tour at The Ritz-Carlton GC in Orlando before this year. According to the official website of the tournament, she had then played with her father. However, she chose her 11-year-old son, William ‘Will’ Nicholas McGee, the youngest ever to compete in the Tournament, to be her partner this time. And Mike McGee is more than proud of him.

It is not a secret that the Sorenstam-McGee family members love to play golf. The Swedish golfer often posts pictures of them enjoying their time at different golf courses on social media. In fact, one of her Twitter posts revealed that Will McGee made an ace at The Cradle in Pinehurst earlier this year. Hence, it was not a surprise for anyone when the PNC event officials announced that Will would accompany mom, Annika Sorenstam this week in Orlando.

The duo played in the event on Saturday and secured a T12 place after finishing the first round. Nonetheless, his son’s participation in the 36-hole championship made his father proud. “Today was special,” McGee wrote on Twitter“So proud of these two and blessed to have a front row seat to their actions each day,” his tweet further read. “Will is like his mom in that he’s a better person than he is golfer. That’s saying a lot.”

Sorenstam is the G.O.A.T. of women’s golf. However, the Hall of Famer is also a mother of two. And when asked what kind of an image he has of her, a golfer or a mother, although Will McGee didn’t say much, his answer was enough to make the others go “aw” during an interview session at the event

“I just see her as a mom,” he said. “But it is always nice to see people making good comments on her,” the 11-year-old.

Annika Sorenstam had the most successful career on the LPGA Tour. However, her husband claimed that she is a better person than a golfer and that their son is just like her. Although one might think that it is near to impossible for him to have a great personality than his mother’s career, he proved them wrong with his mature and kind answer during the PNC Championship interview.
