As we all know, the LIV Golf 2023 was a fest! From insane individual tournament prizes and team benefits to bonuses, the players this year had a lucrative blast. The winners were sated and no, it does not end there. The heavy paychecks had many players from the world of LIV commending the league for having such a big pocket for the players to depend upon.

Now, getting back to business, earlier this year, speculations about the continuation of the League stirred the air. Many players came forth and cleared some doubts about the league’s future. Now that the 2023 leg is all done, golfing enthusiasts want to know what more they can expect from the Saudi-backed crop. Is LIV here to stay? Recently at LIV Jeddah, Ian Poulter, the golfing veteran, spoke to the media and revealed Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the governor of LIV’s finance corp PIF, has big plans in regard to LIV Golf. It appears that the makers have plans to continue the league even after 2025.

Irrespective of these claims, however, LIV’s position in the professional world of golf is still shaky because of the lack of OWGR backing. In a recent update, the acting COO of LIV Golf, Gary Davidson was asked if the League plans on submitting an application to the OWGR again for the ranking points, and the lack of any solid response from the associate has left the fans uncertain.

Talking about what the future holds for LIV, Davidson remarked, “We understand that the point of view is that player pathways are insufficient when actually we’ll turn over between 10 and 25 percent of our player field each year.” Adding to how the LIV Golf players still think the OWGR system isn’t right, the COO continued and added, “That is at least compatible with other tours that are recognized by OWGR. We’ve asked but haven’t previously gained clarity.”

Further, talking about if the League aims at adding more teams, Davidson said, “I don’t think we’ll get to 15 teams next year, but there’s a possibility we may add a team or two.”
