There are very few pros who have left a permanent mark on the history of golf. The likes of Tiger Woods & Jack Nicklaus did it for men’s golf. Annika Sorenstam was the one to lead the way for women’s golf. But there was one other name that also dominated the LPGA Tour a few decades ago, and that was Nancy Lopez. And a few hours ago, the LPGA of America honored her incredible career with the Hall of Fame title. That got Amanda Balionis really excited as she couldn’t hold back her emotions in a special collab with Lopez.

The CBS Sports reporter posted an incredible video on Instagram with Nancy Lopez. Together, they lip-synced the What’s Up x Beez in the Trap by Nicki Minaj. And as Balionis stated, “The only person I ever want to do a trend with again 🤣 @nancy.lopez.russell you are the 🐐 in every way.” This happened only hours after Lopez was named as an LPGA Tour Hall of Famer. So Balionis’ efforts may be to celebrate the golf legend’s recent achievement.
With 48 LPGA Tour titles, including 3 LPGA Championships to her name, Lopez had one of the most prolific careers in women’s golf history. She dominated women’s golf for 15 years and was the biggest star in women’s golf during the late 70s and all through the 80s. Other than that, Lopez also one a title in the Japanese LPGA Tour, the 1982 Mazda Japan Classic. She made her last official appearance in 2010, but has often attended tournaments to encourage young pros from the next generation.

Amanda Balionis’s connection with Nancy Lopez
Amanda Balionis has been a huge supporter of golf ever since she was a kid. While she didn’t pursue the sport professionally, she has done an incredible job covering it as an analyst and commentator. In an interview in 2020 for Women’s Day, she spoke about what inspired her to follow the sport. That’s when she mentioned many golf legends, which included Nancy Lopez, Tiger Woods, & many more.
In her story, Balionis also showed off her invitational to the LPGA of America Hall of Fame ceremony. She was present when Lopez was inducted in Frisco, Texas. The video that she shared must have been recorded at Omni PGA Frisco, the venue for the LPGA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Seems like Nancy Lopez has found her biggest fan in Amanda Balionis after becoming an LPGA Tour Hall of Famer this year.
