Korda was paired up with Rickie Fowler at the event, but owing to her pregnancy Korda couldn’t play in December. However now not only a suitable replacement has been found in her place but she has also received the blessings of Jessica Korda.

So when Korda pulled out of the Grand Thornton Invitational speculation started rising on who could be a replacement for her. From Lexi Thompson, and Rose Zhang to Nelly Korda many names were rumored to be the replacements. And the speculation of many fans proved to be right.

Lexi Thompson is finally announced to be filling the shoes of Korda at the event in December. This will be the first time that she will be sharing the course with Fowler. And Jessica is not only happy with this supplement but has also given Lexi her approval. She reshared the photo with both players in her Instagram stories and wrote “I approve my replacement.”

This is also good news for Thompson’s fans who witnessed her rising performance at the recent Solheim Cup.

What is the Grant Thornton Invitational and how is it played?

The Grant Thornton Invitational is a new mixed-team Challenge Season event that will witness 16 LPGA and 16 PGA TOUR players who will compete together in a unique co-sanctioned tournament.

The event has a prize purse of $4 million. The tournament will be played over three rounds from Friday to Sunday and consist of 18 holes of Scramble, 18 holes of Foursomes (Alternate Shot), and 18 holes of Modified Four-Ball. Till now only 5 teams have been announced and Fowler and Thompson is one of them. More teams will be announced in the upcoming days ahead of the tournament.

As for Thompson she has shown great performance at the Solheim Cup and has tried her best to rise from the slump. Her performance in December will be worth watching.
