Annika Sorenstam Shares Her $130,000 Success For a Larger Than Life Cause With Golf Fans

Athletes very often intend to give back once they see success. Annika Sorenstam, too, is one such athlete. Following her successful golf career on the LPGA Tour, the golfer took it upon herself to give back to the community and grow the sport in her way. And there too, she has been nothing short of triumphant. In fact, the Hall of Famer recently celebrated a huge milestone in her mission to give back and uplift golf.
Annika Sorenstam proudly reveals a huge accomplishment
In 2007, the golf pro started the ANNIKA Foundation. Its main objective was to provide opportunities to young women and inspire and assist them in the sport. Furthermore, the LPGA star’s company aimed to teach the youth the significance of a healthy lifestyle through fitness and nutrition.

This year, we raised over $130,000 which goes straight towards our mission of growing the game and providing life changing opportunities to women through golf.

Ever since it began, her foundation has been growing rapidly and doing extremely well. And recently, the 10-time major winner even opened up and celebrated a huge win. Taking to Twitter, the foundation’s official page posted, “This year, we raised over $130,000 which goes straight towards our mission of growing the game and providing life changing opportunities to women through golf.”

The Swedish golf legend went on to thank everyone who had supported her cause too. “A huge thank you to all our supporters and sponsors for another incredibly successful and fun event!” she wrote. It certainly meant a great deal to her, to see her foundation’s mission reflected in the support of many around her!

It comes as no surprise that this isn’t the 72-time LPGA Tour winner’s first accolade. But this wasn’t the only success her charitable endeavors saw this month. Besides the whopping $130,000 that the foundation collected, the Swedish golfer also received an extremely prestigious award just 3 weeks ago in New York.
She was awarded the Thurman Munson Award. It is a huge honor bestowed upon those athletes who have seen incredible achievements in their sport and then gone on to contribute to society and help grow the game. And Sorenstam has certainly done that better than most! And the award stands testament to that.
