Was Jack Nicklaus good at using Twitter?

The ‘golden bear’ was asked in an interview once if he knew how to tweet. Well, the question sounded absolutely ridiculous to him, as he couldn’t even properly start a computer. “Are you kidding? I can barely turn on my computer!,” Nicklaus said.

But the golf great added that his wife, Barbara helps him out to send texts to people. “But Barbara is terrific. She helps me text people.”

Learning how to text has allowed him to stay in touch with his grandchildren as well. “It also keeps us connected with all of our grandchildren.”

The 83-year-old shared that his very first text his wife sent was addressed to Tom Watson. “She sent my first text, which was to Tom Watson after the playoff at the British Open at Turnberry.”

The legendary golfer may have faced some issues with technology in the past but, to this day he is still one the greatest golf players.

Nicklaus even expressed during the conversation that his employees and co-workers at his company also help him with tweets.

Nicklaus learned to be a good sportsman

The Hall of Famer reminisced about an incident from his youth. He expressed how he once showed a tantrum on the course and threw the club into the bunker after a bad shot. His father reprimanded Nicklaus for his tantrum and asked him to leave the course.

His father warned the ‘golden bear’ to never repeat that action or he would never allow him to touch a golf club ever again. Nicklaus believes golf requires their players to have respect for the rules and traditions of the game.

He feels if a player cannot learn to accept his defeats respectfully, then they should probably find another sport.
