Bizarre Superstitions That Tiger Woods Follows on the Golf Course

Beliefs and superstitions are part and parcel of every sport. The same is the case with golf professionals who follow certain beliefs while playing any event. Tiger Woods is one such professional who spoke about some of the superstitions that the former World Number One, without any fail, follows.

In 2019, Woods and Fred Couples spoke to Henni Zuel for GOLFTV in an exclusive interview. Moreover, both the professionals opened up about the vast range of superstitions that the professionals follow on the course. Before starting with his beliefs, Woods opened up about his fear of Spiders and then moved toward the beliefs he follows while playing any event.

Woods, the 15-time major championship winner and the World Golf Hall of Fame member, has a set of superstitions ranging from some strange to some specific ones.

Woods revealed how he always keeps three tees in his right pocket, and the yardage book that he uses goes into the back right pocket. Moreover, if using a pin sheet, the 82-time PGA Tour winner goes into his front left pocket. If Woods is not carrying the pin sheet, his chapstick goes into the same left pocket.

However, these are not the only things he does when on course. Woods also wears red colors on Sunday because of a straightforward reason. His mom told him. 

He said in another instance, “I wear red on Sundays because my mom thinks that is my power color. And you know, you should always listen to your mom.”

Well, all the superstitions are working well for the former World Number One, and maybe we can notice a few of the beliefs mentioned earlier while he plays at Augusta National this week.

Tiger Woods’ first win at the Masters

Woods won his first major championship event and, coincidently, his first Masters title in 1997. He won his maiden green jacket title only one year after turning professional in 1996. Tiger won the event with an overall score of 18-under-par. As a result, he won with a whopping 12 stoke lead at Augusta National Golf Club. Moreover, his victory by 12 shots is the highest margin of victory at the Masters. He caded a final round of three-under-par, 69 on route to a historic win at the major championship event.
