The 2019 Masters Tournament win will forever be etched in the memories of many golf fans. Tiger Woods pulled off a remarkable performance to claim his fifth Green Jacket. But the Big Cat had been used to creating magic on the golf course by then. He had built a career out of it. And he justified his efforts with a simple statement to Jordan Spieth.

In the latest episode of ‘Tiger Woods: 30 Years of Influence,’ Woods told Spieth, “I can’t honestly look at myself in the mirror that night if I mailed it in. I can’t, I love what I do. I take great pride in what I do. Now, why the hell would I ever bag it? We have 18 holes.”

“We have five hours or four hours and a half hours. How can you not pull this with that time? This is what I’ve been training for my entire life to be able to have this opportunity. Why would I ever bag it?”

There have been talks of Woods considering quitting golf for some time. A series of injuries has forced him out of competition since the 2024 PNC Championship. Even then, he was playing alongside Charlie Woods, who was doing most of the heavy lifting.

His last lower back surgery also took a lot out of him. In October 2025, Woods went through his seventh procedure on the region, which put him out of commission for an extended period. Since then, the reports of him wanting to pull the plug have been even stronger.

But Woods has been clear that he doesn’t want to end his career just yet. Not only during his conversation with Spieth, but his other statements have also reflected that. He has not resigned from his place in the Jupiter Links GC, withdrawn his position from Signature events, or confirmed moving to the Champions Tour full-time.

In fact, Woods also hinted at an exciting return after recovering from the surgery. And that has got the fans pumped up.

Is Tiger Woods already planning a comeback?

Before Tiger Woods won the 2018 TOUR Championship and the 2019 Masters Tournament, he had endured a five-year winless streak. It was riddled with injuries, missed cuts, and a lot of frustration. But he still fought through them and had a successful campaign.

Well, success might not be his goal right now, but Woods might have his eyes set on a similar return this time around as well. Six years since his last win, after another lengthy break from injuries, Woods has hinted at a possible return date.

Speaking to the media during the 2026 Genesis Invitational, he was if the Masters Tournament was off the table this year. He simply replied, “Nope,” putting the internet in a state of frenzy. Whether he actually returns to Augusta National is yet to be confirmed.
