Only hours to go for the 2025 Truist Championship to tee off, and fans are treated to another exclusive PGA Tour event. Bringing all the best social media stars together, Jay Monahan & Co. hosted the second Creator Classic of the year at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Famous content creators like Paige Spiranac, Sean Walsh, and Claire Hogle were all part of the field that saw four teams of three going head-to-head on YouTube.
However, the event didn’t pan out as Monahan & Co. were expecting due to one big reason: lack of star power on the field. The likes of Grant Horvat, the crew of Fore Play, Bob Does Sports, and many other creators were missing from the field. The only prominent golf influencer on the course was perhaps Spiranac, who received very little screen time. That seemed to have infuriated the fans.
The PGA Tour released footage of the winner’s putt after the conclusion of the event. The caption to the PGA Tour’s tweet read, “A winning putt from Team Richards clinches the Creator Classic at Philly Cricket Club 👏.” However, the fans were not impressed by the lineup in the first place and shared their peace of mind with Monahan & Co.

The tournament wasn’t as exciting due to the lack of golfers on the field. And fans let Jay Monahan & Co. know that they are dissatisfied with what the third Creator Classic had in store for them.

Netizens call Creator Classic a snoozefest
With none of their favorite golf creators on the field, the golf community didn’t find the Creator Classic at Philly that interesting. As one fan pointed out, “Bad creator classic no @bryanbrosgolf no @ForePlayPod just brutal boyys stop with the goofy goodies.” They were hoping to see the team of Fore Play Podcast on the field this week. However, Wesley Bryan’s ban from the PGA Tour would have made it difficult for the Bryan Bros to participate in the event.

Another fan was unsatisfied with the kind of teams the PGA Tour had formed out of the available creators. They stated, “Wow, a former tour pro and a scratch golfer win the event. These events are so stupid. It’s always a pro, college player or amateur winning. Like no shit.” Team Richards featured Brad Dalke, who plays on the Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA Tour occasionally, Josh Richards, and Erik Anders Lang. Apart from Spiranac’s experience, two of Team Richards’ members were the only ones who had played top-flight golf in their careers. This gave them an unfair advantage over the other creators.
Some were also hoping to see a few very specific individuals in the event preceding the 2025 Truist Championship. A fan commented, “No Joey Coldcuts?,” surprised that the creator of Bob Does Sports wasn’t on the field in Philly this week. They must have expected to watch the famous golf content creator when they tuned in to the broadcast on YouTube a few hours ago. Especially considering the fact that the group has not posted a video for nearly a week.

The fans also believed that the overall strokeplay was not as entertaining as they were hoping for it to be. Someone wrote, “Enjoyed the girls more. They rarely interview paige.” Spiranac, Sabrina Andolpho, and Claire Hogle hit some great strokes throughout the event. They were also more engaging than the men, even if they didn’t get much screen time.
At last, one of the fans was not at all pleased with the entire setup of the Creator Classic at Philly. They commented, “This format was hot garbage. You win outright and you get thrown into a playoff?,” shocked at how, despite gaining a huge lead in the league stage convincingly, Team Brownlee had to go head-to-head with Team Richards in the finals again to eventually lose the Creator Classic. The better team clearly lost.
