As all PGA Tour pros gathered in Philly for the 2025 Truist Championship, Keegan Bradley had a brilliant idea in his mind. With only a few months left for the 2025 Ryder Cup, the Team U.S. captain decided this would be a great time to get the potential squad together to bond over a meal. That’s how the Team U.S. Ryder Cup came into existence as American golfers traveled from all around the world to meet in the Pennsylvania city. Surprisingly, the list also included Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka, who had to fly in from the LIV Golf Korea event.

Recent reports reveal that one of these individuals shockingly missed the special dinner. Yeah, Scottie Scheffler, even though he did skip the feast. DeChambeau happened to miss it, too. Purely by luck. He just confessed that he was not present at Bradley’s dinner party. In the 2025 PGA Championship Press Conference, Bryson was asked, “What were your thoughts, and how was being invited to the Ryder Cup event the other night?” Just like the fans, the reporter was also unaware of what went down between Bradley, DeChambeau & Co. in Philly. That’s when the Crushers GC player confessed that he wasn’t able to make it to the event.

In response to the journalist, DeChambeau replied, “Yeah, it was awesome. It’s an incredible honor. Unfortunately, we had massive storms that morning that delayed me 3 1/2 hours, and I couldn’t make it to the dinner. But I saw it on Zoom and also talked to the captain about it, and I was step-for-step with him. We had a great conversation after.” Dallas experienced a flurry of thunderstorms and rain on May 5 & 6. It was also incredibly cloudy and foggy, and we saw winds rise to 15 mph. That may have contributed to the delays and eventual cancellation of DeChambeau’s plans. Fortunately, he was still able to catch up with his potential teammates and the team captain over a Zoom call.

Speaking about his chances of making the team, the 31-year-old said, “Look, I’ve got to keep playing good golf, and I’ve got to hopefully—hopefully I can make it on points alone. That’s the goal. From everything I heard, it was pretty inspirational, and I know the captain is going to be a great leader for the team, whoever he chooses and whoever makes the team. He’s going to do a great job at Bethpage.”  While showing support for Keegan Bradley at Bethpage, DeChambeau also showed that he was eager to compete in the event. As far as his chances for qualifying for Team U.S. on merit, the LIV Golf pro currently sits at 5th in the Ryder Cup rankings. Strong performances in the majors will certainly help his cause.

How far is Bryson DeChambeau behind Scottie Scheffler and Co.?

Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele lead the 2025 Ryder Cup Team U.S. leaderboard. Scheffler’s incredible run in 2024 had already confirmed his place in the squad. The win at TPC Craig Ranch only added to his points. He currently sits at 16360.75 before the beginning of the 2025 PGA Championship. On the other hand, Schauffele has managed 11573.11 points so far through his consistent performances. Winning the PGA Championship and the Open Championship in 2024 certainly helped his cause. Moreover, it has been 63 tournaments since the 31-year-old has missed a cut. All these factors have contributed to his excellent position in the standings.

Sitting in third is Justin Thomas with 9342.83 points. Apart from breaking his winless streak recently at the 2025 RBC Heritage, the Floridian has also had three runner-up finishes this season. Thomas has been in outstanding form and earned his place on merit so far. At 4th, Collin Morikawa has scored 8856.10 with two runner-ups in 2025. He may not have won this season, but he has still showcased consistency to gain vital Ryder Cup points. The only advantage most of the players have over DeChambeau is, they can compete for Ryder Cup points every week on the PGA Tour. On the other hand, Bryson only has the majors that allow him to gain points. This makes it extremely challenging for Bryson DeChambeau to win a place in Team U.S. on merit unless he pulls off a major victory.
