2025 has been the year of Marco Penge. He has been absolutely rocking the scene on the DP World Tour this season. In the 24 events he has played, he has had seven top-10 finishes. Three of them have been title wins. And his most recent victory came at the 2025 Spanish Open, where he beat a tough field consisting of Jon Rahm, Sergio Garcia, and other LIV Golf pros. With so many from the Saudi-based promotion on the field, the question was raised: Is he going to switch sides from 2026 onwards? And Penge had a clear response to that.

Speaking to Ten Golf, Marco said, “I’m going to America tomorrow with my wife to find a place for when we move in January. So as far as I’m aware, I’m playing the PGA Tour next year and hopefully I’ll have a great season and finish in the playoffs there and then come back to the DP World Tour and play the rest of the season here.” Looks like his mind is made up, and it’s to play alongside Scottie Scheffler & Rory McIlroy in the PGA Tour. The fact that he is already in the U.S. looking for a place shows how determined he is to play with them instead of going to LIV Golf.

Having said that, Penge also mentioned that he will be returning to the DP World Tour at the end of the season next year. This is what most European players do as well. Rors pretty much follows the same schedule every year after competing in the PGA Tour for the FedEx Cup season. So it does seem like the 2025 Spanish Open champion has a plan in mind before he makes his move to the PGA Tour.

Penge also added, “I love playing golf and I’d play every week if my team let me. So yeah, I want to be playing against the best players in the world, and I want to be playing national opens like this. When you win a couple of national opens, that’s something that I’ll never forget and something that my family will never forget. So, that’s my plan.” His goals align with something McIlroy had also suggested he was planning to do in his career. And by joining the PGA Tour, the 27-year-old will get the opportunity to play in the Canadian Open, the Mexico Open, and, of course, the majors. Moreover, regular appearances on the PGA Tour will also allow him to represent his country in the Ryder Cup in the future. Something Garcia missed out on this year.

However, LIV Golf is still pursuing other players. Now that the rumors of Marco Penge moving there have been falsified, who will they approach next?

Who will LIV Golf get if not Marco Penge?

Reports of LIV Golf trying to sign Marco Penge have been floating around for quite some time now. In fact, rumors also suggested that the Englishman had already committed himself to the Saudi-based promotion and was willing to move to the league in 2026. However, he recently refuted them during the 2025 Spanish Open when he revealed that he doesn’t even watch LIV Golf. And now, with his latest statement, he has all but confirmed that he is choosing the PGA Tour over its rivals.

However, during this period, LIV Golf officials were also scouting for talent within the PGA Tour itself. Rumors suggest that they are negotiating with two recent PGA Tour event winners. No names were revealed as of yet, but many news outlets had confirmed the same reports, which suggests that they might be true. Also, apparently, Phil Mickelson is also out and about, trying to find new players for LIV Golf. Brandel Chamblee revealed that Lefty confessed that he was actively recruiting players during a golf event recently. Looks like LIV Golf might see many new faces in 2026, even if one of them isn’t Marco Penge.
