After the first round of action, things are already looking interesting on the leaderboard of the Pelican Golf Club event. Quite a few anticipated that the Annika driven by Gainbridge would be Nelly Korda‘s return to winning ways. But the former world #1 failed to make an impression as she struggled to compete with the field after a 1-over on Thursday. However, fans couldn’t watch her or many other LPGA Tour stars in action.

Before the beginning of the second round, the LPGA Tour posted, “Perfect day for some golf at Pelican 🤌.” That’s when the comment section was filled with concerns from avid LPGA Tour supporters who complained about the poor broadcast. Turns out, The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican 2025 was cut from broadcast at 1 P.M. The fans couldn’t watch the likes of Korda, Charley Hull, or Kai Trump in action. They also missed most of Lexi Thompson‘s round.

Instead, Golf Channel opted to broadcast the PGA Tour event, Butterfield Bermuda Championship for the remained of the day. So instead of watching the top women in golf compete in the penultimate event of the season, they were forced to endure a FedEx Cup Fall event featuring a field that lacked star power. And no one was happy about it.

In fact, the fans expressed their disappointment with Golf Channel in the comments section. Let’s see what they had to say to the popular golf broadcast company.

Netizens unhappy about Golf Channel’s outrageous broadcast strategy

The poor broadcast strategy of The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, took everyone by surprise. One of the fans wrote, “Yall need to figure out your TV deals. Golf channel cutting coverage of this short for the “Butterfield Bermuda Championship” is a travesty 😂.” The Annika is considered one of the biggest events on the LPGA Tour calendar. Last season, it received far better coverage, and fans were able to watch most of the tournament live. However, the Golf Channel’s decision to skip half of it in favor of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship seemed truly outrageous to the fan.

Another said, “Can’t get over how bad the LPGA coverage is. Seriously why even bring a broadcast group for 2 hours? You only saw a few swings a couple putts and 30 commercials. Blows my mind. There is a large movement towards women’s golf and they are not capitalizing. It’s honestly ridiculous.” With the main PGA Tour season done, the focus has certainly shifted to women’s golf now. It also attracted a major sponsorship deal with the PIF, with the LPGA Tour & LET co-sanctioning an event in 2026. With women’s golf attracting so much attention, they certainly deserved a lot more airtime than just two hours on the Golf Channel.

Someone wrote, “It boggles my mind the @LPGA had a chance to capture people wanting to watch Kai Trump and a hole slew of superstars (Korda, Thompson, etc etc etc) and they cut any and ALL coverage at 1PM. You wonder why more people don’t pick up to watch LPGA. Stupid decision.” The Annika driven by Gainbridge, certainly has a packed field. At the other end, the PGA Tour fall event doesn’t feature a single big-name player. So the fan is upset that the LPGA Tour allowed the Golf Channel to reduce its broadcast slot to just a few hours per round.

Perplexed, a fan also questioned, “Why is this not on TV???” They probably must have tuned in late to watch Korda or Hull tee off, only to see the live PGA Tour event. The limited coverage ensured that none of the fans really got to see any of the exciting action on the field or even watch one of the pros complete a round.

Commenting on a Kai Trump video from the Pelican Golf Club, a fan complained, “Golf channel is showing some men’s tournament.” They didn’t even bother to see that it was a PGA Tour event; that’s how unaware they were about the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. At this point in the golf world, The Annika driven by Gainbridge, certainly seems to have a lot more demand than the PGA Tour fall event that Golf Channel is trying to push down on everyone.
