The 18-time major championship winner has achieved incredible feats in his long and illustrious golf career. But his dominating performance at the British Open is arguably one of the most outstanding achievements in his career as a professional. The stat guru Justin Ray recently shared an incredible piece of statistics regarding Nicklaus’ impressive performances at the Open championship. It is a record that any professional has never achieved except by the legend himself.

Moreover, the Golden Bear has won the major championship event three times as a professional. He won his first British Open title in 1966 at the Muirfield. Ray shared the incredible stats regarding Nicklaus’ performance from 1966-to 1980 at the Open Champion through his Twitter account. He tweeted about the same using his official Twitter account on May 30th.

According to Justin, from the timeline ranging from 1966 to 1980, the 82-year-old Tour veteran finished in 6th position or better on the leaderboard. And when his streak broke in 1981, after he finished in 15th position, no player could repeat the same performance for more than three years in a row. At the same time, Nicklaus finished within the top six consistently for 14 consecutive years.

‘I Believe in Legacies’: Tiger Woods Strongly Disagrees With Phil Mickelson; Wants Golfers to ‘Earn’ Money Rather Than Being ‘Guaranteed’ Up Front

Ray’s tweet said, How about a crazy Jack Nicklaus stat to start @MemorialGolf week? From 1966-1980, Jack finished 6th or better at The Open every year. Since his streak ended in 1981 at 15, no other player has done that more than 3 years in a row.”

Moreover, Justin’s tweet proves how consistent the Golden Bear was with his golf game during the 14 years at the Open. At the same time, it also proves how difficult it is to play consistent golf for a longer period of time. Nicklaus’ achievement is probably one of the greatest feats ever to be achieved in the sport. Do you think any professional will be able to break it?

Who is the defending champion at the 2022 Open Championship?

His final round at Royal St. George’s included three birdies and six pars on the opening nine holes. As a result, Collin moved out in three-under-par, 32.
