Harrison Frazar, the 51-year-old, is in the end zone of the $3.5 million Kaulig Companies Championship in Akron, Ohio. He currently holds the lead post-round two after shooting 2-under 68 during the event’s second round. Surprisingly, this is the first time the golf pro is competing in a Senior Tour major.

Frazar is still looking for his first win on the over-50 Tour and believes this could be it. “As far as remembering how to win, no, it’s been a long time,” he said. And it certainly has; after all, the Senior Tour star’s last professional win came in 2011 at the FexEx St. Jude Classic, and it was his only win on the Tour.

However, he also had a mantra that has always helped him on the course, ever since he turned pro 27 years ago. “Golf is a rhythm; golf is a balance,” he stated. “Just try to do everything the same and just try to do the best I can and see where they add up.” The 51-year-old will certainly be hoping that this maxim of his regarding the sport will help him land his first win on the PGA Tour Champions too.

With regard to his recent performance, Frazar knew that he had not played as well as he had in the first round; however, he claimed that he was still trying to give his best out there and remain in contention. He stated he hadn’t hit the ball poorly and that unfortunately he’d had a couple misses with his short shots. His main goal, however, was to just keep fighting, even though the course was difficult and he was competing against people who were his friends.

Harrison Frazar is currently happy to be competing against his friends

While talking to reporters, Frazar claimed that everyone on the leaderboard was a friend, a hall-of-fame, or an acquaintance, and that he was happy to be among them. Despite his close connection with them, the golf pro claimed that he was optimistic about taking the lead over them to win this week!

In the first round, the golf pro carded a remarkable 65. He finished round two with two bogeys and four birdies, including a chip-in birdie at the par-4 13th hole. And although the second wasn’t as great, it was still enough to keep him on top, one stroke ahead of Stewart Cink. However, the competition is as intense as ever, with many world-class golfers right on his heels.

Ernie Els currently sits in third with -5, while K.J. Choi is one behind him at -4. Steve Stricker and Scott Parel aren’t too far off either and sit just 5 strokes behind the leader, tied for 5th. Some of the other fan-favorite contenders from the event include Jerry Kelly, who is the defending champion, and Bernhard Langer, who are also in the top 10.
