After winning three Ryder Cups in a row, the 2008 Team Europe squad, led by Sir Nick Faldo, had all the ammunition they needed to make history. They had never won four consecutive times. This was their best opportunity, and they had a strong team consisting of strong performers like Sergio Garcia & Lee Westwood. However, Faldo’s poor decision-making led to Team Europe’s first loss in the 21st century. 17 years later, the veteran is having another go at the prestigious event.

No, Faldo hasn’t taken over as the captain of Team Europe from Luke Donald. But he will be in the commentary box, analyzing every move his former team makes. Sports Business Journal expert, Josh Carpenter, confirmed that Sir Nick Faldo will be in the group of analysts alongside Terry Gannon and Notah Begay for the morning sessions of the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Faldo left his role as a full-time expert for CBS Sports back in August 2022 and partly retired from broadcasting. He was replaced by Trevor Immelman back then. Since then, he has covered a few events for Sky Sports Golf. However, this will be his first stint with NBC. Faldo has been a star player for Team Europe in the late 70s and early 80s.

His stint as the captain was questionable. He made some surprising Captain’s Picks, like Ian Poulter & Co., who ended up performing well. But his decision not to have Garcia & Westwood play the Saturday’s Foursomes is what hurt Team Europe’s morale and score the most. Moreover, some of his decisions for the Singles Sundays were also quite shocking and hurt his team’s chances of winning the title. However, his expertise in the prestigious event still cannot be questioned.
Nick Faldo will be back on TV for the Ryder Cup. He'll be grouped with Terry Gannon and Notah Begay for the morning sessions next week.

Who will be joining Sir Nick Faldo & the morning sessions team for the 2025 Ryder Cup?
After 16 years at CBS Sports and multiple events with Sky Sports Golf, Sir Nick Faldo certainly brings a lot of experience to his role as an analyst. His morning session partners, Terry Gannon and Notah Begay, have also spent a lot of time covering the sport over the years. However, in the afternoon of every round, Dan Hicks, Brad Faxon, and Paul McGinley will take on the responsibility from them.
Based on the NBC Sports website, Jim “Bones” Mackay, Smylie Kaufman, and Tommy Roy will also drop in to share their expert opinion. Kaufman might also join the course to cover the action from the fairway as it happens. He might also conduct interviews with the Ryder Cup squads as they play at Bethpage. While they’re at it, one of the fans suggested that Terry Gannon should question Sir Nick Faldo about the 2008 Ryder Cup captaincy chaos. That might make a great topic of conversation among the NBC Sports analysts as they cover Team Europe’s attempt to make history once again.
