‘Have Become That’: Reality Hits Hard on Michelle Wie West Few Years After the LPGA Veteran Takes Up a New Role in Life

Ever since stepping away from the game following the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open, Michelle Wie West has been enjoying the other side of her life. Notably, after taking a sabbatical from her professional career, Michelle has ventured into unknown territories. Among them includes her duties as a dotting mother, which the 33-year-old regularly updates about on her social media handle. Recently, she boarded a long flight with her toddler, where Wie documented the discoveries of her new life.

The former U.S. Women’s Open winner revealed her day’s journey through her Instagram stories, where she was seen boarding a plane on Hawaiian Airlines. She also enjoyed the amenity of the ticket, which granted her complimentary iPads for the travel.

But Wie’s journey wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. The ex-golfer traveled with her toddler, Makenna Kamalei Yoona West. Wie opened up about the struggles of traversing through a long flight with a baby through her stories, which certainly was an unexplored experience for her. “5.5 hour flights with a toddler is simply…survival…,” she explained in her story.

The 33-year-old also dropped a special mention of her eating habits, picturing herself holding a sweet potato. “I have become that Asian mom that packs sweet potato as a snack,” she wrote in her stories.

Wie shares her baby daughter with former basketball player Jonnie West, who is the Director of Basketball Operations for the Golden State Warriors NBA team. He’s also the son of former NBA legend Jerry West, who is regarded as one of the game’s greatest-ever players.

But on the professional front, when has Wie decided to return back to golfing? Or has the time already passed away?

Has Michelle Wie purchased her ticket back to professional golf?

The 33-year-old last played on the tour at the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open, where she wasn’t able to make the cut. In the days following the event, Wie addressed everyone to reveal her decision to step away from the game, with no final destination in sight.

The decision left fans sorrowful, but hopes of a return to the sport have only increased since. The season’s inaugural major, the Chevron Championship, is around the corner already, but has it stoked the spark of a comeback in Wie?
