“He’s in your head, in your head,” screamed the European spectators at the top of their lungs at Bethpage, a rendition of the song Zombies from the Cranberries. They did so every time Rory McIlroy did something spectacular. The Irishman was one of the better players for Team Europe. He earned 3.5 points out of the possible 5 after he won 3, lost 1, and halved 1 match. With that, he helped the team fulfil the goal he had laid out after their win in Rome in 2023: to win the Ryder Cup on American soil. And, hours after their victory, the squad is still not done celebrating as they continue to taunt the Americans.

“He’s in your head, in your head, Rory, Rory!” screamed the entire Ryder Cup team and their partners, including Erica Stolls. They were in their victory bus going back home after a hard-fought triumph. Rors had the title in his hand as he was singing most of the song, except that he let the others shout his name. As modest as he may have been, he also looked relieved after playing 90 holes in three days. The Grand Slam champion was bruised, abused, exhausted, and deserved to sit back and take it all in.

After the win, McIlroy had already revealed that Team Europe is going to celebrate “like there’s no tomorrow.”It is tomorrow now, technically, but they might still not be done partying. And their iteration of The Cranberries’ Zombies was not the only anthem that was being sung on the bus. Just like the fans chanted loudly in New York, Team Europe also sang the “Europe’s on fire, USA is terrified!” song during their trip.

The Ryder Cup Europe Instagram account also shared videos of their grand celebration on the course. One of them had Shane Lowry showering Rory McIlroy with champagne. Jon Rahm was seen spraying the champagne on the fans before lying against the fence, celebrating with them as he chanted the iconic “Ole, ole,”anthem. We can hope that they will share more pictures and clips of their celebrations before they part ways.

As much fun as they are having, Rory McIlroy & Co. didn’t hold back on throwing shade on some of the players and the spectators at Bethpage. Let’s see what they said after their victory.

Rory McIlroy & Co. express themselves after tough battle against Team U.S.

Even before the 2025 Ryder Cup began, Rory McIlroy was already involved in a lot of drama involving Bryson DeChambeau. However, in a press conference before the tournament, he had revealed his promise to Luke Donald that he wouldn’t get into a conflict with the opposing team at Bethpage. McIlroy stuck to it as he didn’t confront anyone other than the fans and largely remained cordial with his rivals. After the tournament, the Irishman shared his disappointment with a minority of fans in New York.

While McIlroy didn’t get into a tussle with DeChambeau, Tommy Fleetwood did. And it nearly got a little too ugly. After their hard-fought battle in the Friday fourballs, the two had a serious conflict on the 15th green. Things escalated to a level that even Scottie Scheffler‘s caddie, Ted Scott, got involved in the conflict.

However, Rory still might’ve ended up riling up DeChambeau, but it’s after the Ryder Cup, hence it won’t seem as though he broke his promise. So during the celebrations and in response to the heat between the Crushers GC captain & the 2019 TOUR Championship winner, McIlroy covered DeChambeau’s name on the top of the stage with the European flag for the world to see.

The celebration caught a lot of attention on social media, and many golf fans enjoyed the response the Irishman had against his rival. But we doubt Bryson DeChambeau & Ted Scott must have enjoyed watching Rory McIlroy & Team Europe celebrate their victory this way.
