As we all know, Tiger Woods is back to playing golf again. The 45-year-old suffered a single-car crash in February 2021 that left him badly injured. But within the span of a few months, the big cat is back to playing the sport he loves, and Jack Nicklaus couldn’t have been any right.

Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods are two of the most celebrated golfers in history. Both players have their fair share of wins and achievements in the history books. While Nicklaus dominated before the dawn of the 3rd millennium, Woods did it after.

Tiger Woods has come past several injury troubles in his career. His back has taken a massive toll over the years but Woods has always battled past everything that’s come his way. However, this car crash exceeded any pain that he ever endured.

Woods was left with serious injuries to his right leg and at one point, amputation was considered a serious option. Before Woods even announced his return, there was serious speculation as to if he would even be able to swing a golf club again.

A lot of people were commenting, and naturally, Jack Nicklaus was asked for his opinion. Here’s what the ‘Golden Bear’ said:

“I know Tiger,” Nicklaus told Golfweek. “What he did at Torrey Pines [winning the 2008 U.S. Open] on a broken leg, what does that tell you? He’ll still be able to slap it around, and if he can putt, he’ll be all right. I don’t know if he can reach his old level, but I do expect him to play again.”

And just like he predicted, Tiger Woods has sealed his return to the sport. Moreover, Nicklaus saw it coming several months ago. He predicted that Woods will be back but not as good as he once was. And that’s exactly what Woods himself stated too. The 15-time major winner will come back to the sport, but pick his events and play.

Jack’s statement on Tiger has aged well indeed.
