Two days in, Team Europe has broken all records at Bethpage. The American side is struggling to fight their rivals as they have only managed to earn 4½ of the possible 16 points. With just 12 more matches to play, Sunday will be the last opportunity for Keegan Bradley and his men to make a comeback. But what will it take to steal the 2025 Ryder Cup title from Team Europe?

The Ryder Cup is played in a matchplay format. That means strokes gained don’t play a role in deciding who wins every match. Rather, winners are determined by who is able to win the most holes across the 18 holes. If, by the end of the 18 holes, both sides have won the same number of holes, then the match between them is drawn and the points are halved.
Having said that, a total of 8 fourball, 8 foursome, and 12 singles matches are played in each Ryder Cup. Each of the matches is played through 18 holes, and every match is played for a point each. So the 28 matches account for a total of 28 points. The fourball & foursome matches have already concluded, and only the singles matches remain at Bethpage.

So far in the 2025 Ryder Cup, only one of the matches has produced a tied result. In the Friday fourballs, Sam Burns & Patrick Cantlay shared points with Rory McIlroy & Shane Lowry. Other than that, Team U.S. has won one match in each session. This has helped them earn 4½ in two days. Team Europe has triumphed in 11 matches out of the 16 across the two days. Hence, they have earned 11½ points. This is the highest score a Ryder Cup team has achieved after two days of action. The previous best was 11 points by the U.S. in 2021 and Europe in 2004.
Coming back to the 2025 Ryder Cup, what will Team U.S. need to score to win the event? Well, out of the possible 12 points, they will need to get at least 10 to get 14½ points. They can win 10 straight matches, win 9 and draw 2, or win 8 and draw 4. Either way, that’s a tough ask for any team, even if it consists of Scottie Scheffler & Bryson DeChambeau. For Team Europe, since they were the 2023 champions in Rome, they only need a draw. Hence, they could retain the title if they just earn 14 points. Anything better than that will only prove their dominance.

Having said that, what are the lineups for the final round of the 2025 Ryder Cup on Sunday? Let’s take a look at all 12 Singles matches.
Team Europe vs. Team U.S.: One last shot for Keegan Bradley at the Ryder Cup
With all of Keegan Bradley’s hopes relying on the final day, he and his team have set up quite a few interesting matchups. Local hero Cameron Young is about to face off against everyone’s favorite, Justin Rose. After everything that occurred on the 15th hole between Rose & DeChambeau, it will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts to them. They will also be excited to watch Tommy Fleetwood go up against the enigmatic Justin Thomas. The American pro has won every singles match in the past Ryder Cups. Fleetwood has also triumphed in all his matches at Bethpage this week. It will be interesting to see if one of them breaks the other’s streak.

Match 3 will be played between DeChambeau & Matt Fitzpatrick. The Englishman has been excellent this week and would give the LIV Golf pro a tough fight. The biggest match on Sunday will probably be the one between the world #1 & #2. Yes, Scheffler & McIlroy will lock horns to prove once and for all who is better in the Ryder Cup. With Scottie going 0-4-0, he will be under a lot of pressure to grab at least one win in 2025.
Patrick Cantlay will be taking on Ludvig Aberg. Both have been brilliant, and it’s uncertain who will come out on top in the end. One of the best players for Team Europe, Jon Rahm, is lined up against Xander Schauffele. The rest of the matches are: J.J. Spaun vs. Sepp Straka, Russell Henley vs. Shane Lowry, Ben Griffin vs. Rasmus Hojgaard, Collin Morikawa vs. Tyrrell Hatton, Sam Burns vs. Robert MacIntyre, and Harris English vs. Viktor Hovland. With Hovland’s status in the tournament still uncertain due to a neck injury, Keegan Bradley might be forced to use the envelope rule and withdraw a player from the Sunday Singles for half a point.
