The 105th PGA Championship is all armed to fire some exciting gameplay from Thursday this week. The star-studded field will witness amazing talent take on the greens. With the anticipation of Oak Hill East Course being one of the toughest golf courses, the intensity offered by the major will only double. All the eyes are on every star who comes out to play, especially the defending champion — Justin Thomas.
The former World No. 1 would be looking forward to retaining his crown this year as well. The course, although, might pose a good challenge to the pro. Apart from his passion for the game, the golfer is known for his fiery personality and raw display of emotions. Thus, it was not surprising to witness JT deliver an honest verdict at the press conference in Rochester before the big event gets the ball rolling.

Justin Thomas shares an astonishing comment
Thomas sat for a press meet on Monday. With just a few days left for the major to commence, the journalists had varied questions to ask the golfer. These included enquiring about the tough course at Oak Hill, the preparation for the coming week, and his last season championship. However, these queries would have been incomplete without the inclusion of the Wanamaker Trophy.
The possession of the famous trophy for the past year, as indicated by the World No. 13, was ‘pretty fun‘ to have. He provided an insight into the next week that followed his win at Southern Hills Country Club in 2022. The Wanamaker Trophy just sat on the dining room table for almost a week is what the star shared with the press. He also added sadly how he has not been able to display it much because of the recent move. But was hoping to bring another cup home.
When one of the interviewers asked if he would like to bring back the other trophy as well, Justin said, “Yeah, I’ve got both.” To which the press further continued the question about the two trophies won by the golfer in 2017 and 2022 being the replica. The question seemed to annoy the golfer a bit.
Thus, JT replied with a shrug adding “Probably, yeah“, which astonished the reporter and he couldn’t hold himself back from asking, “You don’t know this?” The two times major winner answered in his own style, he commented, “I don’t care, honestly. I’ve got them both. That’s all I know.” Thomas seemed to be satisfied with his wins and those mattered to him the most.
JT gaining back his confidence ahead of his title defense
The 30-year-old has not been in his prime form for some time now . He would like for the ‘slump’ to end. And what better way to accomplish this than to fight for the title defense at the second Major of the season.

The pro golfer sounded confident in his preparation and appeared to believe he has mentally come a long way. This is especially true after his T-14 finish at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship. The professional described that the best way to get out of the slump and push oneself to gain confidence is to continue playing.
Amidst his struggle to compete and try to win a tournament, the American golfer had only one insight to share. He said, “Hitting the shots when you want to and making those putts when you need to, and then your confidence builds back up, and next thing you know, you don’t even remember what you were thinking in those times.” With such a positive outlook, we are hopeful to see JT give his best on the fairway this week and defend his Wanamaker Trophy.
