Remember the 2007 US Open when Tiger Woods put himself in a rather difficult position at the 18th hole of regulation play?
It was 10 years since Woods first won the Master’s title and a green jacket in 1997. The golfing community was already in awe of his gameplay and eager to see if he’ll take home another win. Sadly, during the 2007 US Open Championship Finals,Tiger Woods ended up in third place with 71-74-60-72 with a total score of 286, but it still turned out to be a fortuitous event in his life.

Tiger Woods talks about his performance at the 2007 US Open Championship
With his daughter’s 16th birthday right around the corner, the infamous golfer discusses his feelings about his performance at the 2007 US Open Championship at Oakmont Country Club. During his interview with Golf Digest, the 15 times major winner shared that even though he missed the birdie and had a rather difficult gameplay at the 18th hole, he is still happy about it.
“I missed a birdie putt on 18 to force a playoff, but I was able to fly home to see Sam being born… It worked out perfectly.”
The crowd was tensed when Woods hit the shot and the ball rolled down the right side, landing on the edge. Even though he managed to take the next shot with finesse as is expected of Tiger, he couldn’t secure first place. But he has no regrets about it. All he recollects now is that even though he missed the birdie, he made it home just in time for his daughter’s birth.

Sam Woods who was born on 18th June 2007, a day after the 2007 US Opens Championship ended, is a very lucky child. Her father considers it a blessing to have witnessed her birth.

Woods talks about how Sam Woods changed his perspective
During the first episode of ‘A Round with Tiger: Celebrity Lessons’ hosted by Golf Digest, Woods was playing with Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The episode was released to the public in 2021 where the two celebs were enjoying a round of Golf while Woods imparted invaluable insight into the techniques in golf to Smith. Later, they got talking about raising children while riding in the golf cart for her next shot. Jada asked Woods what he learned from his daughter Sam.

The esteemed golfer smiled and joked, “What has my daughter taught me? I don’t like boys.” He added, “She has taught me how to be more patient.” Of course, Tiger loves his son as well. Earlier in the episode, he shared how Charlie just watches his father play and takes his shot. “He’s a natural,” the 47-year-old golfer said proudly, explaining why he doesn’t feel the need to coach his second-born. He did embrace having a boy despite his off-handed joke and truly is a loving and elated father.

Clearly, Woods loves his children and is looking forward to his “little girl’s” 16th birthday.
