“It’s like you’re getting paid to go work at Augusta” – Michael Greller

In a candid interview for Golf.com, Greller spilled the beans on what it is like working for Jordan Spieth. He mentioned that when he was still working as a teacher in 2012, he won a lottery to go to the Augusta National Golf Club, describing it as his ‘Golden Ticket’.

Acknowledging how lucky he was to get this opportunity, Greller said, “It’s crazy. It’s like you’re getting paid to go work at Augusta.” And two years later he got to go there again with Spieth. That was the year we saw the former world no. 1 end up at T2 with a score of -5.

One year later the duo of Spieth and Greller were back at Augusta. This time around, Greller saw his boss capture the 2015 Masters Tournament and sport the green jacket. It must be a surreal experience to be in a position to witness all that live and get paid to do so in the end.

Jordan Spieth triumphs on the Tour

Jordan Spieth got his first PGA Tour win in the 2013 John Deere Classic. Then he went on to win the Emirates Australian Open in 2014. He also saw a lot of wins in the PGA Tour of 2105 as well. That year he won 5 Tour events with Greller caddying for him. Apart from the Masters Tournament, he captured the Valspar Championship, U.S. Open, second John Deere Classic, and the Tour Championship. Spieth had further went on to win 7 more PGA Tour events and one more Emirates Australian Open over the years. He has also narrowly missed out on winning more Tour events 18 times in his career by finishing as a runner-up. His last solo win was back in the 2022 RBC Heritage Tournament.

The last time we saw Spieth play was back in August 2024 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. With the new seasons about to begin in the next few months, when do you think will he make his next appearance on the course? Let us know your take in the comments section.
