All this time, Verwey remained beside Player in his endeavors. But two years ago, on 18 August, she sadly passed away. Her demise crushed Player and had a lasting impact on the golfer’s evergreen enthusiasm.

However, the ‘Black Knight’ seems to have gained control over his emotions in the years since. He recently held a conversational interview with a leading daily, where he spoke on a number of things.

Among them, the golfer iterated his wish for a partner before his clock stops ticking. However, he faced a certain issue. “Now I’m looking for a girlfriend and I don’t know how the hell I will find one at my age!” he hilariously said.

The 87-year-old possesses a great physique for his age. Nicknamed ‘Mr. Fitness’ during his golfing days, Player hasn’t stopped working on his fitness and remains in great shape for his age.

Even at a ripe old age, Player regularly tees up for a golf round. He still doesn’t use spectacles for his daily use, which is in stark contrast to his peers. But what steps does he take to keep himself in top shape?

“I am in the gym 90 minutes a day. I push 300 pounds with my legs, run the treadmill, do 200 sit-ups, and exercise my fingers as well — the arthritis wants to get you. Don’t let it,” he said.
