Who would you place your bet on for the 2025 PGA Championship? Quail Hollow is the home of Rory McIlroy. He has won the Truist Championship on four separate occasions here. With three wins in 2025, including the Masters, he is a firm favorite to go two-in-two this year. Alternatively, you can also pick Scottie Scheffler. The world No. 1 finally won his first title this year at TPC Craig Ranch. and he had an outstanding 2024 that saw him win 9 honors, including the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medal.

Maybe fans will also pick Bryson DeChambeau. He has got a lot going for him right now after the win at LIV Golf Korea. DeChambeau also has revenge on his mind as he looks to beat McIlroy at Quail Hollow so far. In fact, he also mentioned wanting to meet the Irishman in the final round to contend for the major title.

However, these are not the golfers Gary Player thinks will win the 2025 PGA Championship. He has also not picked the likes of Justin Thomas, Viktor Hovland, or Sepp Straka, who have been in excellent form this year. Instead, the Grand Slam champion has backed an underdog to surprise everyone and grab the title on Sunday.

In a tweet from a few hours ago, Player said, “This week, I am rooting for Jordan Spieth to capture the career Grand Slam. I have been a big fan of Jordan for a long time and do feel he is one of the most talented golfers on Tour right now. He is a magician, especially around the greens. I’m getting nostalgic thinking about how close together Jack and I accomplished this feat, and Jordan and Rory could do it in the same year, which has never happened! It would be amazing for our game and amplify what it means to win all four Majors. Good luck to all the Touring and PGA professionals competing this week at Quail Hollow! GP.” The Black Knight believes Jordan Spieth will take away the major at Quail Hollow this year.

Now, let’s be clear, Spieth has indeed been in great form in 2025. He has managed two fourth-place finishes at the WM Phoenix Open and the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. The Dallas local has been quite consistent and only missed one cut out of nine this year. But has he really been that good to go all the way in the PGA Championship? Not to forget, if he does manage to win it, then, as Player mentioned, he will be the 7th Grand Slam champion in the PGA Tour’s history after Rory McIlroy achieved the feat at Augusta National last month.

Nevertheless, it will be quite a challenge for Jordan Spieth to overcome the odds and beat the field at Charlotte, North Carolina. But that certainly doesn’t mean he can’t win it.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Jordan Spieth defy the odds and complete his career Grand Slam at Quail Hollow?

Can Gary Player’s Prediction About Jordan Spieth Come True?

Jordan Spieth has certainly been in outstanding form in 2025. And Gary Player is not the only one who has had his back this year. A few days ago, Patrick McDonald also claimed that Spieth was among the list of elite players on the PGA Tour. But what has made them make such bold claims? It’s mostly because, despite not winning a title in 2024, the Texan has showcased some outstanding short-range stroke play on the course.

He has one of the lowest scoring averages on the PGA Tour this season. His record on par-5 holes is outstanding, where he has averaged 4.52 strokes across 11 events. Surprisingly, Spieth has also been great at driving this season. What was once considered his weakness has turned into his strength as he has one of the best strokes gained records on the tee on the PGA Tour. Overall, Jordan Spieth has certainly been one of the better golfers in 2025. If he continues the outstanding run, then fans will definitely see him win a title this year. Maybe even at Quail Hollow this weekend. If you are still placing bets, then it won’t be a bad choice to have the 31-year-old as a sleeper pick to lift the Wanamaker Trophy in 2025.
