Justin Thomas Reveals the Significance of the Number ‘34’ in His Social Media Handles
Justin Thomas is yet to put a start to his 2021-22 season after the Ryder Cup last month. The PGA Tour star is still reveling in their historic 19-9 win over the European Team. During a recent appearance on “Call Him Papi with David Ortiz and Jared Carrabis”, Thomas spoke about his life, Michael Jordan, his relationship with Tiger Woods, and why he uses the number “34”.
The reason might be more unique than you would think. That being said, Thomas‘ social media handles all feature the number 34. Naturally, fans have wondered about the number and the possible meaningful reason behind it.
If you check Justin Thomas’ Instagram or Twitter, you will see the number 34 attached to all his handles. While the number has to do with baseball, it has a deeper connection to his childhood.

Thomas explains that his uncle Bill, who grew up in the northeast, was a big Red Sox fan. Thomas, along with his cousins, would always receive a Red Sox gift on Christmas, whether it be blankets, pillows, or a jersey.
Why does Justin Thomas use the number 34 everywhere?
“He took us to a doubleheader at old Yankee Stadium,” he added. He explained that he watched David Wells get thrown out, which he described as “incredible”.
For Thomas, he was a child in middle school, who was drawing Fenway Park pictures. “Growing up in Louisville, Kentucky, we don’t have any professional sports teams,” he explained.

He added that the Reds of the Colts are the only closest teams they had, and he has to credit his uncle Bill for getting him into the team.

A few days ago, Thomas was in the news for hiring Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay as his caddie. He previously worked with Jimmy Johnson, who parted ways to pursue other opportunities.
“Jimmy and I had an incredible run of 6 years together but we have agreed to go our separate ways,” Thomas wrote on Twitter, assuring everyone that he did not fire him.

Mackay, who will now caddie for Thomas, has previously worked with Phil Mickelson for 25 years.
