“The style of golf Bryson plays has proved difficult to pair with in the Ryder Cup. His record clearly shows that,” said Brandel Chamblee, a strong critic of LIV Golf and Bryson DeChambeau. He was not the only one, as most of the analysts believed that the Crushers GC captain wouldn’t be a great choice for one particular match format: foursomes. But Keegan Bradley didn’t pay any heed to them as he entrusted DeChambeau to give Team U.S. a big start.

Bradley and Luke Donald just announced the complete lineup of their Friday Foursomes. And to everyone’s surprise, the Team U.S. captain has chosen DeChambeau to start the proceedings for their 2025 campaign. He will team up with Justin Thomas to take on Donald’s picks, Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton.

Interestingly, the European captain started the 2023 Ryder Cup with Hatton and Rahm as well. In fact, both players were unbeaten in all match formats in Rome. That will put a lot of pressure on DeChambeau and Thomas, who are expected to give Team U.S. a positive start in New York. Especially considering Bryson has never played alternate shots in any of the Ryder Cups he has participated in before this year.

That’s why other experts were also quite hesitant about having DeChambeau play alternate shots. Rex Hoggard also joined the Golf Channel to specifically point this issue out. During the interview, he said, “I think Bryson DeChambeau, we should not expect to see him in the alternate shot (foursomes). He plays a golf ball that nobody else really plays on the Tour. That’s a hurdle the captain probably doesn’t want to get past. You’re going to relegate him on some level to four ball.” That’s when he advised Bradley to bench the LIV Golf pro.

However, Keegan Bradley has already made up his mind and decided to have faith in Bryson DeChambeau. We’ll have to wait and see if his trust pays off. But if the Crushers GC captain ends up failing in the Friday Foursomes, then Bradley still has an excellent lineup for the remaining matches to cover his losses. Let’s look at what other matches are scheduled between both the teams for the morning session.

Who else is playing the Friday Foursomes other than Bryson DeChambeau?

Bryson DeChambeau & Justin Thomas are the first group from Team U.S. to go out on Friday. Following them will be Scottie Scheffler & Russell Henley. Keegan Bradley has given Scheffler the opportunity to get revenge for 2023 by lining him up against Ludvig Aberg & Matt Fitzpatrick.

Match three will feature Collin Morikawa & Harris English from Team U.S. Out-of-form, Morikawa will be under a lot of pressure as he goes up against the best Team Europe player, Rory McIlroy, and the man who won the TOUR Championship 2025, Tommy Fleetwood. In the last match, Xander Schauffele & Patrick Cantlay will take on Viktor Hovland & Robert MacIntyre.

Looking at all the pairings, it seems that Team Europe has a better lineup than the American team. With proven duos taking the challenge against Keegan Bradley’s side at Bethpage, Bryson DeChambeau & Scottie Scheffler will be in a lot of pressure to deliver points if they want their side to get a good start.
