Xander Schauffele & Patrick Cantlay are Team U.S.’s last hope to end the Friday Foursomes on a positive note. The American side has been whitewashed so far, as they have already lost the remaining three matches against Team Europe. Schauffele & Cantlay are tied with Viktor Hovland & Robert MacIntyre with three holes to go. But captain Keegan Bradley is still optimistic about his squad’s hopes. All he needs is for the President of the United States to land at Bethpage.

Donald Trump is due to arrive on the course to support Team U.S. this afternoon. In fact, as per reports by NUCLR GOLF, he has already boarded Marine One. He told a reporter at Bethpage, “I have got a lot of faith in my boys. Things are gonna turn here (once Donald Trump arrives.”
While we understand the President is great with the clubs himself. We certainly don’t doubt his leadership skills. But we wonder what Bradley is hoping Trump will do apart from encouraging the players to perform better. In the end, it’s Keegan who will need to get his strategy right and line up the right pairings to face the mammoth challenge against the Europeans. However, President Trump did have an action plan for his trip to Bethpage.

Foursome match review of Keegan Bradley’s Team U.S., and getting ready for fourball
Ever since Bryson DeChambeau qualified for the team, Keegan Bradley had been heavily advised to bench him for foursomes. Despite the expert opinions, he chose to pick the LIV Golf pro in his opening pairing against Team Europe’s strongest duo. Jon Rahm & Tyrrell Hatton destroyed DeChambeau & Justin Thomas after just 15 holes. A few fans also criticized Bradley’s strategy of letting Russell Henley tee off from odd holes, considering his abilities with the driver. The choice of pairing Collin Morikawa & Harris English against Rory McIlroy & Tommy Fleetwood also faced a lot of criticism. In the end, these three teams lost their matches against the Europeans.
For the fourball matches, Bradley has decided to go with a few more unique pairings. He has grouped Scottie Scheffler with rookie J.J. Spaun. Cameron Young is paired with Thomas, and short game experts Sam Burns & Patrick Cantlay will play together. President Donald Trump’s arrival might have increased their confidence for the fourball matches, but looking at Keegan Bradley’s picks, the team might still need more than just encouragement to climb the mountain.
