Anything can happen during a match in the game of golf. It is especially so when a group of golfers are playing on a course in a place that has conditions that are extremely different from where they are from. And the same came out to be the case in the Hero Indian Women’s Open that is currently underway.

The tensions are reaching their peak for the players and the fans at the tournament. However, what came out as the ultimate challenge for the field was not their colleagues or the course but a completely unexpected factor, making it nothing short of a ‘heated’ battle!

The competition is currently in its final leg at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram. The golfers are duking it out with each other in a bid to get a cut of the $400,000 prize money. However, what has come as a surprise to the community is the unexpected weather conditions that came during the course of the tournament.

The final day of the Open saw runner-up Sara Kjellker from Sweden, followed by Madelene Stavnar from Norway, who is currently in T6, get affected by the unfavorable weather at the time of writing. The duo was spotted using powder to get a better grip on the golf clubs that they were using since the heat led to a lot of sweat, which in turn caused the equipment to be slippery in their hands.

However, what came as a surprise were the actions of the top golfer on the leaderboard, Aline Krauter. The German athlete is currently leading the field with a 12-under 231 through the 7th hole on Sunday. Moreover, the professional did not use the same method during her gameplay, as she braved the conditions to keep her position ahead of Kjellker.

What’s more, the event even saw amusing instances over the past four days in the form of caddies donning sombreros, where Piti Martinez Bernal, Nuria Iturrioz’s looper, put on a unique style on the greens. However, one can’t help but doubt if it was done not as a fashion statement but to beat the extreme sunlight and the heat that came with it.

The looper was spotted donning a different style of clothes and headwear. A colorful outfit coupled with a sombrero on her head set her apart from the group of athletes and caddies on the field.

The Spaniard was also seen wearing the same outfit at a different event not too long ago. During the Aramco Team Series in Hong Kong, Bernal dressed in the same manner while carrying the bags for her golfer, Iturrioz, who went ahead to finish T4 in the same manner.

One thing is for sure: golf is a game that can take any direction during the course of a match, leading the athletes to face a lot of unfavorable conditions. The champion would be the person who braves them all while keeping on to their game.
