Frustration Lingered Nelly Korda, Nearly Succumbing Her- Latest Confession Reveals the ‘Grooved’ to Her Rescue

Not that great of a start to the year! What else can we say about Nelly Korda’s performance at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions that took place last week? Despite aiming for a better start to the season as opposed to the previous one, she still wasn’t able to pull off a satisfactory finish at the LPGA Tour event. However, it appears the American managed to get back on her feet, courtesy of her coach.

The golfer took to an interview at the LPGA Drive-On Championship to reveal the reason behind the frustration that she faced back at the TOC. Meanwhile, as she recounted the same, Korda was quick to point out how her coach managed to help her, all the while asking her to just “groove” out in the greens!

Coming out candidly about her bitter situation last week and the 2023 season, the 25-year-old swiftly admitted how there are times when she feels the same. “I think there is weeks obviously that you definitely get frustrated with,” divulged the professional before continuing how it is “especially” so since she put “more and more time into something” in her gameplay.

However, adding on, she mentioned how “sometimes” one just needs to “take a step back and relax.” Continuing with her response, the athlete referred to a saying used by her coach, Jamie Mulligan, while trying to relax. He would say, “Just go out and groove out there.” Well, that’s exactly what she did this week.

The golfer is currently placed at T1 after three days of play at the ongoing LPGA Tour event. She was able to card numbers of 65-67-68 at the Bradenton Country Club in Florida and had a total score of 13-under by the end of the third round. Listening to her instructor did help her out, as she went ahead to set up for her win after a long time.

An inspiring tale nonetheless. However, what happened to her during the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions that made her so frustrated?

Korda’s performance at HGV TOC

The 1-time major champ could only finish at T16 after the final day of play at the Lake Nona Golf Course. Moreover, she could only card a score of 2-under-286 while tying for the 16th position with Andrea Lee. The final day score came at 2-over par 74 owing to the four bogeys she made, three of which came at the back nine.

Now, after a bumpy year and a not-so-good start to the season, she would be hoping for her first win in over a year. Her fans would be especially happy at her performance in the LPGA Drive On Championship which is currently reaching its final day. Fingers crossed for Korda!
