On August 4, 2025, Max Homa & his wife, Lacey, welcomed their second child to the world, Austin. And he couldn’t have been born at a better time. Just a few days before his birth, his father took an early exit from the Wyndham Championship after missing the cut to take a flight back home to watch him being born. Since then, Homa has been busy being a father to a newborn again. And he expressed the same recently.

Speaking to Michael Chavez of Golfweek, he shared what the situation has been like at home: “It’s stressful not being home and giving her help. But she’s a rock star, so I’m lucky. I don’t have to worry about it a whole lot.”
Lacey has been incredibly supportive of her husband’s career, even during her pregnancy. Reports reveal that she even encouraged Max to go play the Wyndham Championship days before she was due. Fortunately, he made it back home in time to watch Austin’s birth and support his wife during it.

Thanks to the incredible support system, Homa can think about leaving home even when his son is still so young. He said, “It definitely makes me more excited to be out here. I was itching to get out of the house and do something. So obviously, it’s been busy at the Homa household. But I think it puts in perspective how much we love this game, and it gives us something to do.”
There is no doubt that Homa loves his family. He tries to do everything he can for their comfort. Even if it means shaving off his beard because it is “scaring the baby“. But the PGA Tour pro is also extremely passionate about golf. His urge to return to the course after nearly a month away from it shows that. The last time he played in a tournament was in the 2025 Procore Championship. Facing Scottie Scheffler & Co., Homa got an impressive T19 finish in the event. Playing a weaker field at the Country Club of Jackson, he would be eager to turn his luck around and finally end his winless run on the PGA Tour.

Having said that, going to the 2025 Sanderson Farms Championship, Max Homa will have more than one reason to win the tournament. And that might put some stress on him as he hopes to beat Akshay Bhatia & Co.

Max Homa has a promise to keep as he plays the FedEx Cup Fall event
Max Homa’s most recent victory came at the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open, where he closed with a stunning final-round 66 to finish at 13-under par and claim the title. The win not only added another PGA Tour trophy to his growing collection but also highlighted his resilience under pressure.
As he came close to winning the 2025 3M Open, Homa revealed something interesting during a press conference. “I need to win. I really need to win because my wife’s pregnant and I need to go home,” he said, looking for some kind of motivation during a tough time in his career. It wasn’t a direct promise to his wife, but rather a heartfelt message to his fans.
However, Homa was never truly in contention for the title that week. A few weeks later, he did get close to a victory at the John Deere Classic. After 54 holes, Max was placed second and looked like the favorite to win the title. But his final round effort wasn’t enough to help him join the playoffs with Brian Campbell and Emiliano Grillo, who finished two strokes ahead of him.

Now, as he heads into the 2025 Sanderson Farms Championship, Homa’s promise to the fans still stands. He is still searching for that next win, and with his newborn son in the picture, the motivation has only grown stronger. His words continue to carry weight, showing that his drive is not just about trophies, but about family, purpose, and living up to the faith his supporters have placed in him.
