Even though we witness only one man behind the club, the success of the shot is actually a team effort. The team we are talking about is comprised of the golfer and his caddie. After all the role of a caddie is more than his visible job of carrying golf clubs. He is at the forefront to experience every single reaction of the player, and act as an advisor when the need arises.
Golf as a sport has seen many famous caddies being a part of its history and others carrying on this legacy. Among the famous golf caddies like Willie Peterson, Skip Daniels and Eddie Lowery, the world also knows of Joe LaCava. The veteran caddie stood by legend Tiger Woods’ side for more than a decade on the greens. Now, with Junior LaCava following in the footsteps of his dad career-wise, caddying seems to be in the blood of the LaCava clan. Especially, when the son registered a ‘special week’ to his name!

Joe LaCava’s son clenches his first win as a caddie
The firsts are always special, and Joe LaCava Jr. can assent to that after the Regions Tradition tournament. The PGA Tour Champions took to Twitter to commemorate LaCava’s success. They tweeted, “Following in dad’s footsteps. Joe LaCava Jr. brings home his first career win as a caddie for @stevesticker at the @RegionsTrad.”
The American caddie seemed overjoyed by the success in Alabama and said, “It’s pretty special.” He also showed gratitude towards his golfer and added, “I know my dad’s had many so maybe one day I’ll catch him, but he [Stricker] is nice enough to have me out here, so I’m very grateful.”

The respect shared between the golf pro and Joe LaCava Jr. appeared mutual because Stricker also praised the young caddie. The 2023 Tradition winner said, “He’s such a great kid. I’ve known his dad forever, and this is, I think, the third tournament that he’s caddied for me in and haven’t done as well as we did this week, so it’s nice to get him his first win on any tour. He’s excited, he’s a hard worker, and he’s a good caddie as well.”

Will Joe LaCava Jr. also register his name in the Caddie Hall of Fame like his dad?
It might still be too early to make these assumptions and comment on Joe LaCava Jr.’s skills as a caddie, but his first success has inaugurated the pathway toward fame. His career is still in its early stage and till now he has caddied for a few golfers only. Among whom, the 25-year-old caddie has been on the bag for Tiger Wood’s son, Charlie once. It was a sort of big family event as Joe Jr.’s dad Senior LaCava has been Woods’ caddie in many major tournaments.

Now, with the LaCava surname attached to him, Joe LaCava will face many expectations from professionals and fans. Specifically, because the Senior LaCava is a member of the Caddie Hall of Frame. If the young LaCava did not have enough pressure already as a caddie, this achievement of his dad will surely add to it. However, the golf world would love to see the rookie caddie rise to fame and help win more events.
