The Players Championship field is full of talented players from all around the world. And one of these very talented golfers, who was the talk of the town for his mustache this week, is Min Woo Lee. Brother to LPGA star and World No. 5, Min Jee Lee, the golfer has made a name for himself with two DP World Tour victories of his own. However, making it to the PGA Tour’s flagship event was nothing less than a miracle for the player. As it turns out, two major health reasons could have stopped the golfer from making it to the end of the round at the tournament.

Min Woo Lee shares shocking health updates at The Players Championship

Lee, 24, made an unexpected finish with two bogeys after touching the lead at the Players Championship. The golfer had it all for a moment but then lost it soon after he faced multiple physical issues on the field. According to his own statements, Woo Lee suffered a major allergic reaction to the electrolytes he had been drinking. Moreover, he also had a mid-tournament cramp in his calf that made things even worse for him.

Looking at the brighter side, Lee said he was happy to still be a part of the $25 million tournament. After his four-under-par-68 round on Thursday, Lee said, “I’m pretty happy to be standing here talking to you guys [reporters] right now,…“At the beginning of the week, I thought I had an allergic reaction to the electrolytes I was [drinking],”

It got so bad that the golfer didn’t want the world to see him in the earlier stage of his allergy. “I don’t want to show you my face from a few days ago. It was swollen and red. It got to the point where I got here on Sunday, and I couldn’t even go out on the course because my eyes were half shut.”, he said. Thankfully, he was able to recover soon and get back to playing some wonderful shots.

As he believes, the two conditions could have been interrelated. The golfer mentioned how the electrolytes could be responsible for his allergies. But at the same time, stopping the intake of those electrolytes might have caused his calf cramp! He realized he was having a cramp at the 15th hole before he birdied at the par-5 16th. The player apparently overextended his calf and needed immediate attention from his physio on the spot.

“As I swung my driver, I kind of overextended my calf, and wasn’t the best of timing, but I’m happy to get it done and that the physio came out and helped me out there,” he explained. His actual momentum got affected at the 17th and 18th holes when he hit two drop shots. Later, he couldn’t stay on par after missing the 18th green from the fairway. But according to him, his cramp didn’t make a lot of difference to his performance. “I didn’t actually hit it that bad with the cramp,” he said.

Although the golfer is already pretty famous on the European Tour, he hopes to be a full-time member of the PGA tour next year. And given that the two circuits share a certain strategic alliance, it might be possible for fans to see him on the American Tour in 2024. Lee mentioned that he supports both tours. He said that the DP World tour was responsible for his growth as a golfer. However, his main goal was to be on the PGA Tour as a professional player.
