“In life, you have got to make the best of every situation; you have to keep going,” said John Daly about living your best life. The eccentric golf legend has never shied away from displaying his authentic self and using his unique ways to enjoy life on and off the course. Known for his powerful drives, Daly competed with the best golfers in the world and came out on top on a few occasions. But it was his odd failures that made him more famous, as he was loved for entertaining the fans even when he didn’t display the most outstanding stroke play.
Daly’s grip-it-and-rip-it style of play gave him an edge at times. But he was often in the replays for bizarre results on the course. One of the hilarious memories he created for the fans recently was the 6-over par 11 on the 6th hole of the 2024 Chubb Classic. He took three drops and penalties, each, to finish the hole in 11 strokes. This year, Long John decided to make the wiser decision as he chose to skip the 2025 PGA Championship. Instead, he has chosen to partake in the Regions Tradition, which is a 50-and-over Tour major. While Daly was out of the picture, he was still brought into the conversation at Quail Hollow by a LIV Golf pro.
During his press conference for the major, Bryson DeChambeau was asked, “There’s an excitement that you’ve been able to generate over the last majors and even during the season with YouTube, with your followers and all that. Something very special happened at Augusta a few weeks ago. How does it make you feel as a golfer and as a person to have that kind of following?” DeChambeau is one of the most influential golfers in the world at the moment. His popularity has helped him reach a wider audience than many other pro golfers in the world. There may be a few exceptions that overshadow him, but they are very limited.

Responding to the intriguing query, the mad scientist said, “I’m very glad to be a part of the journey. Very thankful, very blessed. I didn’t even think a few years ago that we could get this far. I’m just honored and glad to have a big support system behind me. I’m talking (about) my family and friends. And then it’s good to see all the fans out there, coming out, supporting, yelling my name, and talking about the latest YouTube video I just put out, our team put out.” DeChambeau’s fame has clearly transcended beyond golf, and he is not afraid to embrace it. The 31-year-old has 1.95 million subscribers and nearly 322 million views so far. No wonder LIV Golf executives are consulting with him over their social media strategy despite his contract running out in the coming year.
Speaking of his content creation efforts, DeChambeau added, “It’s quite fun, and it really gives me perspective out there when I’m under intense pressure and somebody yells out, hey, let’s do a Break 50, or I loved the video with John Daly, or whatever. It really sets me back into a positive mind frame of I know why I’m doing this.” He certainly enjoys fan interactions, and while his collaboration with Donald Trump would have caught a lot of attention, John Daly’s inclusion in one of his ‘Break 50’ episodes also helped him gain a lot of love. Daly, undoubtedly, added his own essence to the video, making it an extremely enjoyable episode.

The Dream Team of the Enigmatic John Daly and the Enthusiastic Bryson DeChambeau
Bryson DeChambeau’s ‘Break 50’ episode with Donald Trump was certainly the most successful piece of content the former has created. Both individuals received a lot of love for the outstanding work they did on the course. The DeChambeau/Trump video has received 14.4 million views so far. However, the next biggest edition of the series the mad scientist had was with John Daly.
What’s your perspective on:
Does John Daly's carefree style make him the most entertaining golfer of our time?
Have an interesting take?
The two shared a lot of banter, passion, and knowledge of golf with each other. They had an amazing time on the course, and their chemistry was evident in the video. While the energy of Bryson DeChambeau is usually enough to help him get views, John Daly’s vibrancy made it one of the best ‘Break 50’ episodes the former has ever created. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that he received 7.6 million views for it. It’s also not a surprise that fans shout out to DeChambeau about how much they loved the video. It’s worth noting that Daly played on the course without any shoes on. That too was highlighted by many of the fans in the comments section who enjoyed his laid-back attitude.
